L'oreal True Match vs. MAC Studio Sculpt

For years I've been switching from foundation to foundation trying to find the perfect one or simply one that suits my skin ! I have combination skin varying from dry to oily so it has been difficult to find a foundation which suits both ! I couldn't just settle for any foundation as a good base is key to making your whole make up look flawless ! In the past year or so I've found two foundations which I love and are definitely my 'go-to' foundations ! In this post I'm going to compare the two and you can choose which one might suit you best !

1. L'oreal True Match

I first heard of this from YouTube Beauty Guru Lauren Curtis who swears by this ! I've followed her videos for a long time so decided to pick this up in Boots a few months back ! This is a great foundation and  I have convinced many people to try it and they , like myself , love it ! This foundation is said to be a dupe of MAC Studio Fix Fluid which may entice some people to purchase this product ! When I first squirted this product on my hand I was shocked at how liquidy it was ! It has a very watery consistency but once applied to the face you will begin to see amazing results ! This foundation is very blendable but you can build up the coverage if you like ! I recommend you apply this in light layers rather than all at once to give the preferred coverage and to prevent it rubbing off easily ! I found the L'oreal True Match foundation to blur imperfections and under eye circles before even applying concealer ! It leaves a satin to dewy finish which could be easily mattifyed by applying loose or pressed powder ! It leaves a smooth , flawless look but I would only recommend this particular foundation for those with oily , normal or combination ( more oily ) ! I recommend this because it tends to catch on dry patches but maybe with a good moisturizer or a moisturizing primer you might be okay ! I have worn this on many nights out and it is very long lasting but at times I find it seeps into creases or fine lines on the face ! L'oreal have a great choice of shades ! Like MAC , they offer both warm ( W )and cool tones ( C ) !  I use this foundation in the shade Golden Beige ( W3 ) to match my neck when I'm wearing fake tan ! The L'oreal True Match range also overs a mineral foundation , concealer , setting powder , blushes and much more ! I bought my L'oreal True Match foundation in Boots for €16.49 ! You will also find this foundation in most pharmacies and L'oreal stockists ( Prices may vary ) !

2. MAC Studio Sculpt

Before I get into talking about this foundation I am going to give you some advice on picking the right MAC foundation for your skin type ! I have been dying to get my hands on a MAC foundation for so long ! I've tried the MAC Matchmaster but I wasn't a fan as it didn't suit my skin ! After hearing so much about the Studio Fix Fluid , I wanted to find out more hearing mixed reviews ! I decided to speak with a MAC artist in their BT store ! I was told to steer away from the Studio Fix Fluid as I have combination skin ( being more dry than oily ) as it was designed for oily/normal skin and tends to catch on dry patches ! I was recommended the Studio Sculpt which was said to suit my skin type better ! I would definitely recommend speaking with a MAC artist before splurging on one of their foundations and find one to suit your skin ! Now most of you may know that MAC is quite expensive but  their make up is of a great quality and is of a professional standard ! They have a great colour selection ! With their Studio Sculpt foundation , they use NC and NW to seperate the cool and warm tones ! I use this foundation in NC30 which may be too dark for some but I only wear it on nights out or if I am wearing a dark tan ! I must warn you though , just because I am NC30 in Studio Sculpt does not mean I will be NC30 in another of their foundations ! Some of their other foundations don't even use the NC or NW system so be aware ! Now on to the foundation itself !
When you first see this you will see that it is of a thick consistency ! This foundation offers medium to full coverage and is quite heavy but gives a smooth flawless finish ! For me , this leaves me with a dewy finish but can be mattified with a setting powder ! I prefer this foundation for nights out due to its heaviness but don't let that put you off ! I love it and it is so easy to apply but it does not cover under eye circles ! Therefore , I apply an under eye concealer ! One thing about this foundation is that it takes on other products very well such as powders , concealers and blushes which is not the case with all foundations ! Not all foundations react well with other products ! This foundation also has an SPF of 15 which is always a plus for protecting your skin ! The Studio Sculpt is also long lasting and stays put after a night out looking as if you've just applied it ! MAC foundations are a bit pricey and the Studio Sculpt foundation cost me €35 ! You will find this along with other MAC products in Brown Thomas , MAC stores and online at www.maccosmetics.com !

I hope I've helped and you feel like giving one of these products a try ! Thanks for reading ! Mwah !
